The intention of this policy is to indemnify the insured against loss of or damage to the property insured arising from entry into or exit from the premises by forcible and violent means. The completed proposal form must always be accompanied by a schedule of the insured items.
Underwriting considerations include the following:
- location of the risk
- construction of the building
- type of goods to be covered i.e. the attractiveness
- anti – theft devices available in the premises
where the proposal form indicates an unusual risk, the premises should be surveyed and a report incorporating the recommendations must be made available to the proposer and compliance with those recommendations must be made a condition precedent to acceptance of the risk. However, where the sum proposed is of greater value than =N=1M, the premises must always be surveyed. The items insured are always the same as for fire and special perils, except for buildings and very heavy items of plant/machinery which cannot be stolen.
